Mechanical Specialist (Engineering) - Great opportunity to progress towards IMechE status

Oxfordshire – Hybrid working available - £40,000 - £54,000 (depending on experience)

One of our key clients has a requirement for a Mechanical Specialist (Engineering) to be based at their offices in the Oxfordshire area on a permanent basis (Hybrid Working available with 2 days in the office).

This is a great opportunity to join a specialist consultancy with the opportunity to work on a range of small, large and diverse projects, appreciating the whole life - cycle. as well as receiving first class training in design and licensing activities. 

You will work alongside and learn from highly respecrted and highly qualified peers.

Your traing will be organised and  to allow you the skills and experience to apply for IMechE status and become a professional accredited Engineer.

Each developing individual is assigned a mentor and a line manager, which ensures that you receive the structured support and guidance necessary for your professional development. You will get exposure to a variety of projects and the

opportunities for role rotation depending on preference, ensuring a well-rounded development

Role will include:

  • Being an active team member in a supportive work environment, contributing to the achievement of real business objectives and assigned to live projects - some of which are the largest and most exciting projects taking place within the nuclear industry.
  • As part of the team you will gain the experience required to grow in responsibility for delivering and planning engineering tasks of increasing size /as your career progresses. 
  • You will interface with other engineering disciplines; project managers, production engineers, inspectors, nuclear safety and engineering analysis specialists.
  • Reporting to Senior Specialists  you will often manage a small team of designers or design engineers and interact with engineers/QA of other areas in the business, 

Experience Required:

Technical abilities are essential, so you will need a minimum of a 2:1 Masters or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. HNC or HND qualified applicants will also be considered. We look for those with a passion for engineering and

problem solving and would have an interest in designs, materials, manufacturing, how to operate & maintain mechanical components, and the essentials of how radiation shielding works in practice. It would benefit if you covered & enjoyed degree modules

such as mechanics of structures and dynamics, preferably including CAD.

Just as important are your behaviours; we are looking out for candidates with great communication skills, who are proactive, focused, and with a willingness to learn.
